Change to BNY Mellon Global Income Fund
A new team will take over the management of the BNY Mellon Global Income Fund at the end of June, following the departure of existing managers Nick Clay and Andrew MacKirdy as well as two other members of the strategy’s team. Ilga Haubelt, currently head of Newton’s equity opportunities team, will be taking over as lead manager of the global income fund. She will be joined by co-lead portfolio managers Robert Hay, Paul Flood and Jon Bell. They will be supported by the other portfolio managers on the equity income team – Zoe Kan and Emma Mogford. Haubelt will also take over as head of Newton’s equity income investing team as a whole.
Haubelt will work alongside the other members of the current team over the next few months, transitioning the strategy’s management to the new managers. As the current team themselves have often stated – the process, philosophy and income discipline, combined with Newton’s research capability, are critical factors in the strategy’s performance. Although there will be new managers on the Fund, Newton’s stable framework process that guides its management and which has been in place since 2005, remains unchanged.
In addition the Fund will continue to draw heavily on Newton’s established team of global research analysts. Newton will be looking to add to that team with four new hires this year. Charles French will take over from Haubelt in leading Newton’s equity opportunities team.
